1804 - NICOLAS TOUSSAINT MORY, FOUNDER
In 1804, already specializing in merchandise transportation in France and Europe, "le calaisien" founded MORY.
The company had the privilege of being the exclusive transporter of British newspapers to foreign countries and foreign newspaper to Great Britain. Nicolas Toussaint MORY earned the prestigious title of "Official and exclusive correspondent of the FOREIGN POST OFFICE".
The MORY of today was already being sketched out in the diligence, variety of transportation methods (on land by road and rail and overseas by boat) and in the area it covered (Great Britain, France and across Europe) at that time.
1825-1918 - BOULOGNE SUR MER, THE FIRST MORY'S GQG
Taking up where his father left off, Nicolas Jean Baptiste MORY took advantage of the already large port and the budding railroad in Boulogne-sur-Mer to develop a new company : MORY & Cie.
Their activities expanded spectacularly and diversified rapidly : mail delivery in France with MORY & Cie taking charge of the whole chain of operations down to the payment of taxes upon leaving countries, transportation of "classic" merchandise but also transportation of fresh flowers from the Mediterranean to London.
Around 1880, MORY & Cie began stocking sugar and created nationally approved stores to manage it.
The third MORY, Henry, created the Boulonnaise Maritime Company (Société Maritime Boulonnaise) at the beginning of the 20th century. The company exploited a line of "vapeurs" (steamboats) to Southampton. A new branch was created in Cardiff.
MORY was already affirming itself as a major international player.
During WWI, MORY participated in the war effort by becoming active in coal importation and contributing to providing France with energy.
1919-1938 - BETWEEN THE WORLD WARS AND THE CREATION OF A COMPLETELY INTERNATIONAL GROUP
Eugène MASSET, who managed MORY until the next generation could take over, showed a particular interest in international business. Fossil fuels in Africa, overseas transport from Algeria and Morocco, land transportation with the creation of MORY Message Service, which served the French colonies in Africa.
1945-1980 - A TRANSFORMATION, AND AN IN-DEPTH DEVELOPMENT
Activity in the coal industry, which was preponderant in the first half of the 20th century, became secondary.
"Classic" transportation and forwarding agent activities became major.
International transportation continued to develop through its oveseas shipping services, European land transport and air transportation.
Under the impetus of Georges MORY, MORY SA reinforced its development and presence in Great Britain, Northern and Southern Africa and Spain.
In 1975 MORY INTERMODAL
TRANSPORTS was born
in the USA.
In France itself, the network expanded remarkably : the first "stars" appeared in the North, in Mans ; the center in La Courneuve opened its doors in 1965 ; then Rennes, Lyon and Avignon followed suit and branches opened all over France. At the end of the 70's, there were 70 branches, making the new MORY TNTE the number one network of message service and express transport in France.
The fledging computer appears in the operating.
The 70's, with Jean Nicolas MORY, who succeeded his father, confirmed the group's incessant quest for greater innovation and performance for its customers.
1990 - THE CHALLENGING YEARS
MORY TNTE suffers the consequences of the big financial Monopoly which characterizes this time. Excessive activities diversification, basical jobs neglected, so the society is under state guardianship, its future is very bleak.
1996 - THE REVIVAL AND TRANSITION TO THE 21 FIRST CENTURY
On arrival, Alain BREAU and his managerial staff took clear and firm measures to reorganize the financial situation and redeployed the staff ti relaunch their main activity, transport, offering new and modernized services using the quality of the national network.
The improvement of the financial system allowed investments which assured the relaunch of logistic activity.
Alain BREAU has taken the incentive, himself, to increase international activities by creating branches specialized in export in France, Europe and overseas. Through computer technology and sophisticated tools such as Tracking and Tracing, MORY's clients are guaranteed full information.
MORY remains one of the rare private and independent companies in the logistic and transport world.
The way MORY developed its assets in 1999 allowed the company to become definitively independent.5 MAIN PROFESSIONS
